Madame Donna Cuna Pita is the former Fashion Director of Cosmopolitan Magazine and is now a freelance fashion stylist for celebrities. Lucky me, I got a slot for her Personal Styling Workshop care of Writer's Block Philippines and Brew Your Best Year at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Philippines in Net Lima Building, Taguig last week.
Attending the event was worth it! I didn’t only gain knowledge but I was able to meet new people as well. Here are a couple of things I picked up that might be helpful to all madames and sirs too:
1. MeaSURE Yourself
To dress your body right, you have to know your body. Don't just guess, silly. You gotta be SURE of your meaSUREments. Grab a tape measure, get naked in front of the mirror whether with a partner or not and start measuring your shoulders, bust, waist and hips.
2. kNOw Your Body Type
There's no typo in there. You have to say NO to body types which are not you. Do you have a peach, apple, ruler, full-figured or an hourglass body? Personally, I'm quite a peach. Want a peach of me? :p
Kidding aside, knowing your silhouette shape is the most important thing in styling as what will look good on you will depend on it.
3. EmBRACE Your Shape
BRACE yourselves! It's time to embrace your shape by accentuating the best parts of your body and hiding the ones that you think will not make you visibly good. Remember, you are what you wear.
Part of it is getting creative with how you wear one piece of clothing in many ways. Madame Donna Cuna Pita was kind enough to show a demo during the workshop in which I really enjoyed! She used one buttoned down polo with a larger size and turned it into a skirt, an off shoulder top, and a tube top. Who would have thought about that, right?

Thanks to these personal styling tips, I will be able to look fab and slay any day!
And of course, I couldn't resist taking home my favorite Banana Caramel Slice from the display counter.
Plus, a selfie with Madame Donna Cuna Pita.
