7 New Dishes To Try At Bistro Charlemagne

When it comes to Asian cuisine, Bistro Charlemagne's menu always come through with flying colors. Their first branch was stationed in the south at Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna, and they recently just opened its doors to serve good food in Ayala Malls Feliz as well.

At first glance, Bistro Charlemagne Ayala Malls Feliz branch looked really posh. From its vintage leather covered seats to the whole ambiance of the place, it sure feels a bit intimidating. But fret not because the dishes on the menu aren't as expensive as everyone thought it would be. It will probably cost around 200-400 pesos per order and the servings are already great for sharing.

I went with my blogger friends Harvard de Baron of alwayshungry.ph and Karla Ramos of karlaroundtheworld and we were welcomed with a couple of new dishes to try.

1. Crispy Tinapa Cheese Rolls

I love crispy cheese rolls, but combining tinapa or smoked fish with it gives a whole new twist to it. The lingering taste of the tinapa filling will totally make you want to grab some more.

2. Shrimp Poppers with Fresh Salad

If you fancy Chinese Prawn Salad as much as I do, this dish would be your new favorite. A good amount of shrimp covered in breading with their signature sauce makes it really savory and sweet at the same time.

3. Roast beef in Au Jus Peppercorn Sauce

This roast beef is gloriously tender and with its rich and savory sauce, you would want to devour it all.

4. Golden '17 Soy Chicken

Made with 17 herbs and spices, the soy chicken far exceeded my expectations given that the meat is cooked to perfection, tasty and flavorful.

5. Ox Sisig

Bistro Charlemagne also did a good job in elevating the taste of sisig by using different parts of the ox instead of the usual pork. The succulent texture and flavor of the whole mix is definitely a comforting dish. I was hoping there was a crispy factor there though.

6. Pandan Crepe

Based on what Mr. Charlemagne Lim, the owner of the bistro shared, the recipe was brought here from Bali by his chef. For me, it wasn't something I'd be craving for, but the oldies would surely love the not-so-sweet combination of pandan and coconut filling.

7. Ghirardelli Smores

Sweet mother of smores! Their version of smores is made with Ghirardelli chocolates and Reese's from San Francisco. Now, that's a melt in your mouth experience you should go for.

With all that said, which dishes would likely excite your palate? Mine would be the Crispy Tinapa Cheese Rolls, Shrimp Poppers and the Ghirardelli Smores.

So set off on a food journey through the diverse and complex flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine at Bistro Charlemagne! Located at the 5th level roof garden dining in Ayala Malls Feliz.
