Affordable yet effective brightening and whitening products
One of my skin concerns is having uneven skin tone especially on hard to reach areas and skin folds like the neck, in-between thighs, butt cheeks, elbows and knees. However, I have not explored much on whitening products since it's really not my priority to spend on those over the years. And when I do have extra budget, I make sure to only purchase from trusted brands.
This time, I tried two of Fresh Skin Lab's brightening and whitening kits: #FreshHilodHack Tomato Kit and #FreshHilodHack Milk Kit.
The #FreshHilodHack Tomato Kit includes the Tomato Glass Skin Dry Salt Scrub, Tomato Glass Skin Soothing Gel Lotion, and the Tomato Glass Skin Cream Salt Scrub. While the #FreshHilodHack Milk Kit includes the Milk White Glutaboost Spa Salt Scrub, Milk White Glutaboost Soothing Gel Lotion, and the Milk White Glutaboost Cream Salt Scrub.
For product review, I focused on using the #FreshHilodHack Milk Kit since I'm kind of obsessed with the brand's milk line. I did a review of their soap and face scrub here as well.
Packaging: I got a little confused at first since there are 2 kinds of salt scrub and their packaging are almost the same. To identify the two, the dry salt scrub comes in a glossy pack and the cream salt scrub in a matte pack. What I love it is that both products are in a reusable or resealable form, making it easy to use. I wouldn't say that it is eco-friendly though.
Product: Both products are great for exfoliation and can be used for both face and body. The spa salt scrub is for deep exfoliation while the cream salt scrub is for gentle exfoliation. These products are made with Therawhite complex with 2x brightening power of glutathione and milk proteins.
How to use: The Spa Salt Scrub works hand in hand with the Soothing Gel Lotion. You can opt to mix both products 3:1 to get the creamy texture. You can also choose to use both products separately: exfoliate then moisturize.
On the other hand, the Cream Salt Scrub is already the combination of both the Spa Salt Scrub and Soothing Gel Lotion. And that's what I love about it-- There's no need to mix products anymore.
Apply and scrub gently on damp skin, leave in for 3 minutes then wash thoroughly. Use 2 to 3 times a week.
Review: I've been using the Milk White Glutaboost Cream Salt Scrub on my elbows for a week now and I have noticed that my elbows are now one shade lighter than the usual. Since I only use the cream salt scrub thrice a week, I still apply the Milk White Glutaboost Soothing Gel Lotion alternately. I love how the scrub is so gentle on the skin, can remove dry skin and at the same time help in whitening.
Packaging: Just like Fresh Skin Lab's other soothing gel lotion variants, this one comes in their usual packaging. It comes with an applicator for hygienic purposes-- You won't need to touch the whole lotion with bare hands.
Product: It's the first-ever glutathione soothing gel lotion that's effective in whitening dark areas 2x compared to regular moisturizers. It can be used for both face and body.
How to use: The Soothing Gel Lotion works hand in hand with the Spa Salt Scrub. You can opt to mix both products 1:3 to get the creamy texture. You can also choose to use both products separately: exfoliate then moisturize. As a scrub, you can apply and scrub gently on damp skin, leave in for 3 minutes then wash thoroughly. Use 2 to 3 times a week. As a moisturizer alone, you can apply on face and body on a daily basis.
Review: I've been using it alternately with the cream salt scrub and I can see that it is quite effective in whitening dark areas and moisturizing too. It's not sticky even when applied before putting on make up, lightweight and fast absorbing as well.
What's also good is that FRESH products do not contain apparent ingredients that may pose as harmful to pregnant women. Some pregnant women have used our products but it’s always best and safe that your doctor should be your first stop for a treatment plan, and you should always consult them before trying a new product yourself.
